| Why?
AdventureSports Radio has been created to bring a radio station
to the world that we can't find on our local radio dial. When
tuning acoss your local AM/FM radio we find countless SportsTalk
formats all talking about the same thing, Football, Basketball,
Baseball, Hockey, Golf..etc.,etc.,etc. That's the opposite of
sports that you participate in.
Challenge is part of daily life. Everyone encounters it, and most
do their best to overcome it. AdventureSporters encounter daily
challenges, and in this regard they're like you and me. Overcoming
routine challenges, however, provides no significant reward. AdventureSporters
actively seek-out new and unique challenges-and then endeavor
to overcome them. To some, trekking to a high meadow provides
a new sense of accomplishment. To others, breaking off the front
of the peleton-and staying there-provides the same spiritual prize.
Engaging the pursuer, challenging the rapids, making that move
cleaner than before… this is the AdventureSports spirit. Commitment
overcomes challenge-commitment to self, partner, team and success.
Some insight as to who we are can be
found in an artilce written by a frequent contributor to AdventureSports
Radio, James Raia. A
veteran daily newspaper reporter, Raia now writes syndicated running
and cycling columns and is the editor and publisher of two electronic
newsletters, Endurance
Sports News and Tour
de France Times. His interest in endurance sports and the
athletes who participate in them fostered Raia's personal interest
in long-distance running. He has completed more than 65 marathons
and ultramarathons.
